Electrolysis Hair Removal · Pontyclun, South Wales
True Permanent Hair Removal.
Works on All Hair Colours, All Skin Tones.
The only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal. Electrolysis safely and effectively removes unwanted hair forever — including blonde, red, grey, and white hair that laser cannot treat. Precise, proven, and permanent.
Understanding the Treatment
What is Electrolysis
Hair Removal?
Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal. Unlike laser hair removal which targets pigment in the hair, electrolysis uses a tiny probe inserted into each individual hair follicle to deliver precise electrical energy that permanently destroys the hair growth cells.
How It Works
A very fine, sterile probe (thinner than the hair itself) is gently inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle alongside the hair shaft — it does not pierce the skin. A small amount of electrical current is then applied to permanently damage the follicle's growth cells, preventing future hair growth. The treated hair is then removed with tweezers. Over a series of sessions, all hairs in the treatment area are systematically treated and permanently eliminated.
Three Types of Electrolysis
Modern electrolysis typically uses a blend of two methods for optimal results:
Your practitioner will use the most appropriate method for your hair type and treatment area.
Why It's the Gold Standard
Electrolysis is the only hair removal method recognised by medical authorities as truly permanent. It works on all hair colours (blonde, red, grey, white, dark), all skin tones (very fair to very dark), all body areas (face, body, and delicate areas), and all hair thicknesses.

The Benefits
Why Choose Electrolysis
Hair Removal?
True Permanent Removal
Electrolysis doesn't just reduce hair growth — it permanently destroys the follicle. Once a hair is successfully treated, it will never grow back. This is permanent removal, not reduction.
Works on ALL Hair Colours
The only method that removes blonde, red, grey, and white hair that laser cannot treat. Hair colour and skin tone don't matter — electrolysis works for everyone.
Safe for All Skin Tones
Unlike laser which can cause complications on darker skin, electrolysis is completely safe for all skin types from very fair to very dark. No risk of pigmentation changes.
FDA-Approved Permanent Solution
Electrolysis is the only hair removal method with FDA approval for permanent removal. Backed by over 140 years of proven results worldwide.
Precision Treatment
Perfect for small areas like eyebrows, upper lip, chin, or individual stray hairs. Each follicle is treated individually with absolute precision.
Addresses Laser-Resistant Hair
Ideal for finishing work after laser hair removal, treating hormonal regrowth, or removing stubborn hairs that laser couldn't eliminate.

Choose Electrolysis If You Have
- Blonde, red, grey, or white hair
- Very dark skin tone (Fitzpatrick V–VI)
- Small areas to treat (upper lip, chin, eyebrows, individual hairs)
- Previous laser treatment with remaining stubborn hairs
- Need for true permanent removal (not just reduction)
- Hormonal hair growth that responds poorly to laser
Choose Laser If You Have
- Dark hair (brown or black)
- Large areas to treat (legs, back, arms)
- Limited time for appointments
- Want faster overall results
Many clients use both: Laser for large areas with dark hair, then electrolysis for finishing work or treating light-coloured regrowth.

Your Journey
Your Electrolysis Hair Removal Journey
Before Your First Session
- Let hair grow for 2–3 days before treatment (we need to see the hair to treat the follicle)
- Avoid waxing, plucking, or threading for 2 weeks prior (these remove the hair we need to treat)
- Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, lotions, or oils on treatment area
- Avoid sun exposure to the area for 24 hours before treatment
- Stay hydrated — well-hydrated skin responds better to treatment
During Your Treatment
You'll feel a brief tingling, heat, or pinching sensation as the electrical current is applied to each follicle. Sensitivity varies by individual and body area — some describe it as very tolerable, others find it more uncomfortable, particularly in sensitive areas like the upper lip or bikini line. Most clients find the discomfort manageable and well worth the permanent results.
Session Duration
After Your Treatment
Immediately after treatment, the area may be slightly red with small bumps around each treated follicle — this is normal and typically fades within a few hours to 24 hours.
Aftercare Requirements
- Avoid touching or scratching the treated area for 24 hours
- No makeup on the area for 24 hours (facial treatments)
- Avoid sun exposure for 24–48 hours, then use SPF 30+
- No swimming, saunas, or hot tubs for 24–48 hours
- Don't pluck or wax regrowth — only shaving is allowed
- Apply soothing aloe vera or prescribed aftercare cream as needed
Number of Sessions
Electrolysis requires 15–30+ sessions for most areas. This varies based on hair density, hair type, treatment area size, hormonal factors, and previous hair removal methods.
Typical Timelines
Session Spacing
Sessions are typically spaced 1–4 weeks apart. Facial hair often requires more frequent sessions (weekly or bi-weekly), while body hair can be treated every 3–4 weeks. Regular, consistent appointments produce the best results.

Transgender Services
Expert Facial Hair Removal for
Transgender Clients
Electrolysis is the gold standard for transgender clients seeking permanent facial hair removal, particularly for facial feminisation. Unlike laser which may not remove all facial hair (especially lighter hairs), electrolysis permanently eliminates every single hair regardless of colour or texture.
Why Transgender Clients Choose Electrolysis
We specialise in facial electrolysis for transgender clients and understand the unique challenges of treating dense, hormonally-driven facial hair. Our experienced practitioners provide sensitive, judgment-free care in a completely private environment.
What to Expect for Facial Feminization
Facial hair removal via electrolysis typically requires 30–100+ hours of treatment, weekly or bi-weekly sessions for fastest progress, and 12–24 months for full clearance. Many transgender clients complete laser first for dark hair, then use electrolysis to remove remaining stubborn or light hairs.

Is Electrolysis Hair Removal Right for You?
Ideal Candidates
- Anyone with blonde, red, grey, or white hair unsuitable for laser
- Those with very dark skin tones (Fitzpatrick V–VI) where laser carries higher risk
- Transgender clients seeking complete facial hair removal
- People wanting to remove small areas or individual stray hairs

All Skin Types & Hair Colours Welcome
Electrolysis works equally well on all hair colours from platinum blonde to jet black, all skin tones from very fair to very dark, fine and coarse hair, straight and curly hair, and both hormonal and genetic hair growth.
When It May Not Be Suitable
- Pregnant individuals (safe to resume after delivery)
- Areas with active skin infections or open wounds
- Those with pacemakers or certain heart conditions (consult GP)
- Very large areas (full legs, back) — laser is more practical for speed
- Those unable to commit to 15–30+ sessions
Realistic Expectations
- This takes time: 15–30+ sessions for most areas, up to 100+ hours for full facial removal
- Progress is gradual: Hair reduces progressively over months, not weeks
- Consistency matters: Regular appointments produce better results
- Some discomfort: More uncomfortable than laser, though manageable for most
- True permanence: Once treated successfully, hair is gone forever
